literal translation 和 word-for-word translation 和 word-for-word translation的区别.我的认识是意译,直译和直译,那就是说literal translation 就是根据他的意义来翻译一个句子,而后面那两个就是一个个字的翻译,我的理解对不对呀.
但是我今天在期刊上看到一个翻译是这样的
(2) When the cat’s away, the mice will play.
Free Translation: 阎王不在,小鬼跳梁.
Literal Translation: 猫儿不在,老鼠成精.
(3) If you run after two hares, you will catch neither.
Free Translation: 同时干两件事,全都干不好.
Literal Translation：同时追两兔,全都抓不到.
这个不是和我的理解相反吗?

literal translation 直接翻译（直译）word-for-word translation 逐字翻译.When the cat’s away,the mice will play.是英语谚语.由于文化上的差异.翻译为被译语言熟悉对应的谚语.显然“阎王不在,小鬼跳梁”更符合....
