Different countries have different ideas for good manners (礼节) at table.
In Japan,it is OK to make noise when you eat noodles. This is not but a kind of praise to cook.
In Russia,it is not good to rest your hands on your knee.Keep your elbows (肘) off the table.Leave some food on your plate to show that the host (主人) has given you enough to eat,or the host will ask if you'd like to have a second helping.
In France, people enjoy dinner and make it a special occasion (场合).People often cut bread directly on a table cloth rather than on a plate.Cut your bread into small pieces before eating.Taking a bite from the whole piece is very impolite.
In Mexico, dining is a special occasion,too-dinners can last for hours, and where you sit matters in the country. Before you sit down, look for place cards,or wait until the host guides you.
One difference on the Chinese dinner table is chopsticks (筷子) instead of knives and forks (叉子),but in some Chinese restaurants, you can sometimes ask for a pair of knife and fork,if you find the chopsticks not helpful enough. The real difference is that in the west, you have your own plate of food, while in China the dishes are put on the table and everyone shares.
