Good morning. Firstly, I should like to thank you all for coming to this Press conference, and for appreciating that it is not possible for me to accept the numerous requests for exclusive interviews at this stage. I have been overwhelmed to the quest for one to one interviews. I’m sure you understand this is a new experience for me and I’m a bit nervous. I know you will have many questions to ask me, and I should like to try to preamp some of them. Why have I become chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party founded by my grandfather forty years ago. The answer to this question is because it was recognized at this moment of crisis the party needed a close association with my mother through the bloodline; also it was important to give hope to the new generation of the Pakistanis who are looking not just these elections but beyond. Politics is also in my blood. And also I admit that my experience today is limited I intend to learn. However, my immediate priority is to return to oxford to continue my studies, unless I can finish my education and develop enough maturity, I recognise that I could never be in the position to have sufficient wisdom to enter the political area. As you know, one of my mother’s greatest strengths was her education, she had completed four years at Harvard and four in Oxford and there is no doubt that one of the many characteristics which people in mind was her broad education and the experience of the world. At present, my role as chairman is wanting to witch her step gradually and carefully, in the mean time my father will run the party as assistance of the vice chairman (name) and other parliament areas. My father is not standing for a parliamentary seat and will be entirely invoke the party affairs as well as travelling to and from Dubai to be with my sisters who is still in school there. To those of you who consider it odd that a ninety-year old should assume such a position as a chairmanship of a political party, my responses are as follows: my position was based on the collective will of the party, unanimously indorse by fifty to sixty members of our central executive committee and federal council of the PPP representing the four provinces of Pakistan and Kashmir. But in moderation, not only for my own sake, but also for the sake of my fellow students and the college, I’m perfectly prepared to schedule Press conferences such as this, but when I’m at Oxford I hope I can be left alone. On behalf of my sisters in Dubai, I should also like to request you to respect their privacy. Finally, the murder of my mother. I appreciate that the detectives from Scotland Yard have now gone out to assist to the investigation. However, the families’ and the party’s request is for a UN sponsored investigation because we do not believe that the investigation which was just under the authority of the Pakistani government has a necessary transparency. Already, some our friends’ evidence has been destroyed. As you know my mother was very propitious and loved being with people. Aware of the risks on the day of her death she knew that so many thousands have travelled from far across the country to see her and she did not want to disappoint them. It was the same courage she showed when she stood in front of the bus on her return to Pakistan from Agzai （地名,不确定）last October. She had requested protection by the government of Pakistan. It is a believe that had she been provided with adequate protection she would be alive today. Since her death is under investigation, I’m not prepared to comment further on who we believe is responsible. Thank you for your time and now I’m happy to answer some questions.
