“记述”或“描绘”,近年的“ethnography”最常用的意
思是“对常人的生动记述或描绘”).尽管人类学家
王铭铭指出,“‘Ethnography’指对社会和文化的全
面描述,它的对象可以是民族、部落、氏族、地区、都
市和社区.国内原来译为‘民族志’,只适用于eth—
nography的民族部分,不能全面体现它的愿意”,
但是包括他本人在内的人类学界和社会学界学者一
直沿用“民族志”的译法至今.不过在学术界,特别
是在教育研究界,至今还有很多人把ethnography译
作“人种志”(暗含白人中心主义,早期译名,现已废
弃)、“民俗志”(将人类学与民俗学混淆),这个细节
折射出的,可能是对人类学本体论的误解,也可能是
