Rose watched as her friend Melissa and three other girls practiced their dance moves. Rose told her mom “I want to take ballet(芭蕾)lessons!” Her mom was happy and bought her a dress. Rose went to the lessons. But she found it boring to do the same movements(动作) again and again. After a few lessons Rose told her mom “I’m not going to the lessons anymore.” Bored she drew a picture of a lovely “ballerina”. She said to herself ” I’m not good at anything.”

One day after school Rose visited Amanda. Amanda was practicing the guitar. Rose told her mom when she came back home “I want to play the guitar!” Her mom bought a secondhand guitar for her. She tried to play it but the strings(弦) hurt her fingers and she had to rest. Bored Rose drew a picture of a girl playing the guitar. She sighed and thought “ I’m not good at anything.”

“Charlie what should I do? Tomorrow is Talent Day at school but I don’t have talent for anything ” she asked her brother. “Well you could take your drawings ” Charlie suggested.

Rose sighed. What else could she do? The next day she put her drawings in her bag and went to school with heavy steps.

Ms Smith announced Rose to be the winner and asked her to come to the front of the room. “I didn’t know you could draw so well Rose. Would you tell us your secret?”

Rose thought and thought. At last she had the answer. Rose smiled and said “Practice!”
