The patterns of chemical modification of RNA oligonucleotides carrying the A1555G mutation by dimethyl sulfate (DMS) were distinct from those of the RNA oligonucleotides carrying wild-type sequence in the presence of aminoglycosides.

答案和解析
DMS一般使用在DNA footprinting里面的,它可以甲基化一些DNase比较难接触的碱基（因为体积等空间因素）然后再在甲基化切断DNA.可以获得比DNase footprinting更高的分辨率.
至于这段话,好像也是一种足迹或者是研究甲基化对什么interaction的影响,不过描述的很不清楚,也说不清这个modification到底是干什么的,最好有个图...
