In our everyday lives,at some point,generally comes around to one of those everyday problems that few of us wish to confront.Problems can be mind-clinging and accumulative.They may be caused by others or they may be caused by us but affecting others.My point is that most of us would rather avoid confronting others regarding any of the issues if we can.The discussion concerning the issues is almost always difficult,likely to elicit emotional and defensive responses and in some instances hurt feelings and negatively affect personal relationships moving forward.Ignored problems are often pushed aside and blamed on someone or something else for the causes of them.Unfortunately,some of us do avoid,or skate gingerly around,confronting issues to the detriment of relationship,teamwork,morale and often productivity.
It is useful,therefore,for us to step back and take a clear-eyed look at what blaming behaviour actually amounts to when one of these difficult matters arises for which he or she is responsible.By volleying the problems,we are enabling,authorizing and unconsciously encouraging their perpetuation.Why should people we care about stop causing the problems if we are not prepared to confront the behaviour involved?
An accessory after the fact,in criminal law,is a person who,having knowledge that a crime has been committed,aids,or attempts to aid,the criminal to escape apprehension.These accessories are frequently prosecuted for their enabling collusion.An accessory after the fact,in personal relationship terms,is a person who ignores potentially damaging problems,thereby ultimately rendering themselves as responsible and accountable for the problem as are the people around her.
