就是文章的第一段中 .the descriptions given by people who claimed to have seen the puma were extraordinarily similar.
这里是"have seen" 再接下来就是 the hunt for the puma began in a small village where a woman picking blackberries saw a large cat only five yards away from her.而这里就用 “saw”!自学的哈,语法搞不懂,敬请指教啊.
再请问 第二个saw可是在 hunt for the puma began 之后啊； began 是动词过去吧 在began 之前看到的不也应该是 have seen

我是大二英语专业的学生.我先给你讲下这个句子的结构,它是一个for 引导的原因状语从句,里面还有一个定语从句套着一个定语从句【[]】：
for the descriptions 【given by people[ who claimed to have seen the puma ]】were extraordinarily similar.
再说你的时态问题.其实很简单,这里的see是发生在claim之前的,当然要用比claim早的时态即完成时.
那个woman看到puma时没有发生在后面这句话里任何动词之前,当然就是用过去时.
