During the economic crisis(经济危机)in America, many people relaxed their"need″.The new question "Do I really need it?" has become a new thought.
At the Shoe Box,a customer recently bought $ 3,000 of shoes and boots.Five minutes later, the woman walked back to the store and returned what she had bought, saying,"I just can't do this anymore." The store has had several experiences like this recently.People are scared and think over whether they should buy something.
To more people,it's becoming cool to pay less rather than more. These days it's worth(值得的)buying Target handbags for $30 rather than $500 .Ms.Denholtz says the Shoe Box stores are selling more shoes--at around $ 325 while $ 2,000 shoes quietly sit on shelves. She also says that customers are looking at the price on shoes carefully before trying them on.She mentions,"People are not buying $ 800 shoes anymore."
Melanie Gording,a mother of two is married to an optometrist. She recently bought him two shirts for $16.99.She used to go shopping for his shirts at Nordstrom."Maybe people will decide they don't need to get their eyes checked," she says."We're saving all we can save."
Mrs.Gording says she has even given up buying clothes in style like black jeans."In the past,my daughter asked for a new skirt and I bought it,no problem," she says,"Now it's ' No' ; you need nothing."
"Need," she adds,"is the key word."
