THERE is no other street in China that enjoys such high cultural and political status (地位).Beijing’s Chang’an Avenue,stretching 38 kilometers and running east-west through the city center,is known as the facade (门面) of the capital.
On March 20,a five-month renovation (翻修) of the street kicked off.The main task is to strengthen the road surface for the grand (盛大的) parade that will mark China’s 60th anniversary on October 1.
The street was fitst built from1406 to 1420 .It was an important part of the Ming Dynasty’s plan for the ancient city of Beijing .The street was not a commuter route then,because it only served the imperial court.When it was opened to the public in 1911,it symbolized the collapse of the qing dynasty.
And when the avenue became a major route in 1950m it marked the founding of a new china.
The flag raising and lowering ceremonies at tian’anmen square have often attracted a large cwowd of visitors.
Many important buildings can be found along chang’an Avenue ,such as the Great Hall of the penny,the National Museum ,and the National Center for performing Arts.
The avenue is also remembered for a touching scene that occurred in january1976.Thousands of people in tears lined the route from Tiian’anmen square to Babaoshan revolutionary cemetery to say farewell to Premier Zhou Enlai when his body was taken to be cremated.

第一段第一句说的是该城市有很高的政治和文化地位(enjoys such high cultural and political status ),但是你不能自己想当然的就把"高的政治文化地位"直接等同于"最重要(the most important )"喔~
做题的时候,对于选项中的"the most""the best"之类的极端词汇一定要非常非常的谨慎,如果文中没有明确的证据表明"the most...",一定不能自己加进去喔~~
你是不是看到文中出现了很多个"important",但是注意喔~作者都只用了"an important part"之类的,没有最高级哈~
