1)介词but和except后面可以跟不定式(前有do后无to).如果这两个介词前面是do nothing,do anything,do everything,there is nothing to do等,其后的不定式不带to.
2)I'd rather do...than...是一个固定搭配,意思是“我宁愿做……也不做……”,这里中间有一个however small it is的插入语来修饰room
3）listen to sb do sth是个固定搭配
4）sb.is said to do和sb.is said have done,前者是其他人讲某人要去做某事,将来状态.后者是别人讲某人已经做了某事,完成状态.从后半句可以知道他已经在国外学习了.
5）短语 be sure to,strike 是不及物动词没有被动语态
6）工程是将被完成,虽然是2003年但要注意将来时will表示工程还未完成,用to be accomplished
