The film industry in China has not really progressed over the past few years.One reason is the political influence on the film-making process,such as propaganda and censorship.This leads to the content of the film itself being restricted into pro-Comm*nist ideas and thus does not allow a more open and innovative film-making process.Another reason is the misuse of Chinese culture in the films.As opposed to Western films that encourages the re-discovery of their own culture,the film industry in China are more likely to base their films on old ideas such as wuxia or kung-fu instead of something fresh.This leads to repetition and lack of creativity in the film industry.
