昆仑踞西域之胜[1],世传为仙人出入之所[2],嘉树珍果,萃于其地[3].徕宁地近昆仑,得其余气,多暖而少寒,以故果木之盛甲于天下.桃、杏、葡萄、梨、枣、苹婆、林檎、樱桃[4],俱极香美,无论矣.桑椹大可径寸,色白如玉,味甘如蜜.冰苹婆尤为异品,形如内地苹婆,而莹然无滓,表里照彻如水晶,味香烈而极甘,别城无此种.又有所谓瓯桲者[5],似山东木梨而大,香如木瓜[6],以蜜渍之,甘酸如山查而香过之[7],真异种也.
呜呼!以此珍果,如生于中土,移入神京[8],必能贡明堂[9],飨清庙[10],供上方之馔[11],擅华林之春[12],其次亦得为卿士大夫所共尝,文人学士所争赏.乃生于穷荒回纥之地[13],食之者不知其味,嗅之者不闻其香,甚且珍品与羊胛同烹.名园与马枥为伍,物之不得其地,至此已极,大不可痛惜乎哉!
