   Mo Yan got the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012. He is a great Chinese w 1 . His real name is Guan Moye. Mo Yan—meaning “don't speak” in Chinese — is his pen name. He was b 2 in 1955 in Gaomi County in Shandong Province to a family of farmers. When he was only 11 he 1 3 school to work as a farmer. At the a 4 of 18 he began working at a cotton factory. During the time his access to literature was largely limited to novels in the socialist realist style under Mao Zedong.
