To attend public university ot private university is a common problem confronting highschool graduates.Their choices mainly depend on their tuition budgets,the univeristies' reputation,and their other personal preferences.Among these factors,the tuition and the reputation are the two that varies the most among public and private universities.
It is universally true that private universities charge a higher tuition than the public univerisities.The difference between the tuitions depends on the country where the universities locate.Normally,in east Asia,the price difference is between two to three times.In the U.S.A.,however,the difference can be as dramatic as five times,which is why the high tuition has been criticized harshly by the public in the u.s.a.Neverthelss,the big difference of tuition exists for a reason that the difference of teaching and studying enviroment is quit large between these two kinds of universities.For the case of usa,the most previleged universities are always the prive ones,for that they have more teaching professionals for less students,which brings more efficient and high quality eduation.For the case of east Asia,however,it is inversed,meaning that most public universities own a much better academic enviroment than the private universities.So the reason for the high tuition of private universites in this area do not lay on the quality of eduation.Instead,it is mainly because that the private universities cannot gain any fundings from the government,which means they have to make ends meet by charging the students a lot.
Hence,it is not surprising that a lot of private schools in east asia do not try their best to gain a good academic reputation since their first goal to fight for is to keep the business operating.On the contrary,public schools in east asia seem never had to worry about the money as they are all government founded.With the support of the government,they have had their entire focus on the academic reputation,which is why we find that all the top-ranked universities in east asia are public.
