这个句子等于是 As she cooked, wrote and ran the farm, she was very busy 的省略,也就是说,As cooking, writing and running the farm 是时间状语.

由连词 when, while, as, before, after, since等引导的状语从句,在省略与主句一致的主语后可以把谓语动词变成分词,变成“连词+分词”结构.这类句子在书面语中用的很多.例如：

 

We have only three books when needing five.  (=when we need five) 虽然我们需要五本书, 却只有三本.)

While loveing the children, the parents are strict with them. (While the parents love the children) 父母都爱他们的孩子,同时对他们要求也很严格.

除此之外,if,though,because 等连词引导 的从句也可以这样做.例如：
