1.I am sorry to hear that our boy students' average scores of the final are lower than those of girl students'. I talked with some boys and asked them what they prepared before the final exam. I knew some of them were smart but they just played the video games too much. They did not do the review work before the final. I told them if they did that again next time, I would punish them hard. But, it is still too late. We lost to the girls this time. They are happy in front of us now.
2.On New Year's Eve, we got together at my grandparents' home. We had a big dinner with 10 courses. However, the whole chicken, whole duck and the pork leg were not touched. My grandparents said that they would have finished those first when they were young. Obviously, times had changed. We just picked some delicious seafood.
After dinner, I went outside with my cousins. We lit fireworks and firecracker. The dark sky became colorful. We shouted and jumped when we saw the fireworks shooting into the sky and exploded into leaves and flowers, gold, red, green or purple.
Some of my cousins held the firecrackers in their hands and lit them and then threw them up. The firecrackers cracked up in the sky and made all of us laugh heartily.
We played and played until midnight. At that time, all the kids lit their fireworks and firecrackers at the same time. The whole sky was lit up in a moment and happy noise made whole neighborhood very high with excitement. What a great evening!
3.My friend went to Shanghai last Monday. He could not understand their dialect. But, they could speak Mandarin. However, sometimes, it was hard to understand their Mandarin. My friend's last name was Wang. His friend's last name was Huang. But Shanghai people had the same pronunciation for Wang and Huang. So, when they called my friends, my friends did not know who they were calling. However, most time, they could understand each other very well. In fact, my friend had learned some Shanghai dialect when he was there. He was happy there and he will go there again.
4,I am a second-year student of a junior high school now. Right now, I am on a winter vacation. Most of our classmates stay at home for the vacation, because our Spring Festival, the Chinese New Year, is at this time too. However, I can still reach each other by phones or email. I really like the vacation, because after homework, I still have time to watch TV.
