Her dream of becoming an astronaut came true in 1978,when she was chosen in the astronaut program.In 1992,when Jamison was 35 years old,she bacame the fifst African-American astronaut to go into space.She was sent up in the space shuttle Endeavor along with six other astronauts.They were going to test the effects of weightlessness on certain animals such as frogs and fish.
