The Yong An palace,which is the main political,or the empire's palace in the Tang dynasty was constructed c.c.(circa) 634 CE(Common Era),five years after when the Tang Tai Zong empire claimed the throne.This palace was originally bulit as a gift from Tang Tai Zong to his father,Li Yuan,and for Li's utilization in the summer.However,before the completion of the palace,Li deceased in the Yong An palace circa 635 CE,of which led to the palace of being renamed to the Da Ming palace.Covering a large amount of land,the wedge-shaped palace has 11 gates,40 halls and towers,and is 15 kilometers in width,and 25 kilometers in length.The south side of the Da Ming palace is the main political courts,of which is a combination of many courts,including the Han Yuan court,the Xuan Zheng court,and the Zi Chun Court,if counting from South to North.The inner courts are in the North part of the Palace,with the middle of the court being the Tai Ye lake.The front entrance of the inner courts was named the Dan Feng Gate,and the main hall being the Han Yuan hall.The Xuan Zheng court is at the north of the Han Yuan hall.At the left and right side of the Xuan Zheng court,the two provinces,the Zhong Shu,and the Men Xia,alone with Hong Wen,Shi Er embassies are placed.Furthermore,there are 30 other accommodations,halls,courts and towers in the palace.
The Da Ming palace was nearly destroyed at the end of the Tang dynasty.However,the Han Yuan court,Lin De court,San Qing court,Xiang Luan and Xi Feng pavillions,and the Tang Ye lake,Peng Lai tower,alone with others can still be seen in the ruins.
