I looked up at the kitchen clock. If I hurried I might finish the ironing before Carl got home. Ever since we had moved to the farm, I couldn’t seem to catch up with my work. I _44_ for a while to wipe the sweat (汗水) off my face. It ‘s true that April was really _45_ in Michigan.

“Listen!” he whispered. “What is it?”

I said softly, “Oh, Tim, rain is coming!” Almost at once we threw our arms _50_ each other, jumping with joy. When the rain reached our yard, we kicked off our _51_ and ran to meet it. Hand in hand, faces uplifted, we stood until we went wet all over. The rain _52_ so wonderful, cool and refreshing _53_ such a miserable hot day. Together we breathed the good _54_ of the earth. What a delicious feeling we had!
