Answer:
判断一个定从句用关系代词(that,which,who..)还是用关系副词(where,when,why)要把握以下两点:
1.分析定语从句缺什么成分
A.缺主宾表成分选用关系代词
B.缺状语成分选用关系副词
2.看先行词
拿LZ所给句子来分析,从句不缺任何主干成分,缺状语成分,故得选用关系副词
从句缺不缺主干成分的另一个方法就是关系代词还原法,因为关系代词替代的是前面修饰的先行词并在从句中做主宾表成分,所以根据此点你可以把先行词
"situation"代入从句中的主宾表位置会发现放在哪里都是多余的,故判定缺的是状语,得选用关系副词.在英文中先行词是case,point,situation 等表抽象地点的先行词 ,用where引导定语从句.
