用筷子敲击碗是不允许的,因为过去只有乞丐才用筷子击打盆子,使行人注意并给与施舍.

The Chinese has a long history of using fire.They use the chopsticks to fetch the food when the food is cooked by fire.
No matter Chinese or foreigners,they all marvel at the invention of Chopsticks,though nobody knows when it was invented and who invented it.
It is not appropriate to knock the bowl by your chopsticks because the begger usually do it to beg food or money by knocking their bowls to attact the passerbys' attention.It is considered very irreverent to prick your chopsticks in rice because people do it for the death.
