Can Money Buy Happiness

The hottest topic in China this year is no doubt "Are you happy?", which has been broadcasted on television for quite a few days. Various answers have been provided by interviewees and some of them take wealth as one of the element in staying "happy".

It is true that money works. Money brings us a sense of safeness because we can use it to purchase neccesities; to pay for medical care; to run the business; to make money out of money and to live on it. So we depend on it, we rely on the material life first, then find happiness when we do not have to worry about the basic needs for living.

However, money arouse vicious competition, fights, bribery and even wars. It destroys thousands of people's happy lives when countries lifted their weapons fight for money.

So my opinion is, money is not the source of happiness but it is the basis for living. We could live a deliberate life with material well-being, and then happiness will be easily achieved. It is just about abandan the superfluous desire, and instead, fill ourselves with gratification.

Money can not buy happiness, we all know examples about the poor who laugh and sing out loud everyday and the rich who sigh for not earning more money. We know examples about happy families without too much income and broken families with grand wealth. So we can think of a way in which money could be spent wisely, to be spent on making people happy. It is not only about making ourselves happy but also to please people around us who care and love us.

Money is not carrying any responsibility to make people feel happy or less happy, it is just an object or existance. It is people, who decide what happiness is.
