对下面两篇英语短文分别用英语提三个问题.最好是值得思考的那种.
Poor but gentle
In the old days, ice cream cost a lot of money.A 10 year-old boy often walked along the ice cream shop by counting his coins but never entered because he has no enough money. One day,the boy appeared happily and entered the shop and sat at a table.A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.“How much is a big dish[4] of ice cream?” he asked.“50 cents,” answered the waitress.
The little boy took his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.
“Well, how much is a small dish of ice cream?” he asked.By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient2.“35 cents!” she answered quickly.
The little boy again counted his coins.“I’ll have a small dish of ice cream,” he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the money and left.
When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she started to clean the table. There, placed beside the empty dish, were two 10-cent coins and a 5-cent coin! You see,he couldn’t have the big dish, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip3 to thank her service.
A brave boy
Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer[5] at a hospital,I got to know a little girl named Liz who was terribly ill because of a serious disease. Her only chance of recovery2 appeared to get some blood from her 5-year-old brother, who had the same disease but had developed the antibodies3 his sister needed to fight against the illness. The doctor explained the method to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.I saw him hesitate4 for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying,“Yes,I’ll do it if it will save her.”
As the blood operation5 progressed,he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled,as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale6 and his smile went away.He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice,“Will I start to die right away?”
Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.
