I’m Xiaowen a student journalist from Xinghai Middle School. Yesterday a survey was conducted in our school the topic of which was about the ten-minute break between classes. The condition of different classes varies according to the result of the survey. It’s a trend that some students prefer to bury themselves in their homework while others choose to go out to take some sports in the open air.

As far as I’m concerned we Senior three students should balance the time between study and relaxation. A proverb goes that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Without relaxation between the lessons our brain may break down under the burden of unlimited study work and we may gradually lose critical thinking and our sense of innovation. To make matters worse our physical well being is likely to be failing if we are lacking in physical exercise. For such reasons it’s high time that our school should take measures to encourage more physical exercise and prevent the ‘nerds’（书呆子）.

As for suggestions I firmly believe every student must be made known that relaxation can’t be overemphasized. For instance the headmaster can carry out a strict policy which limits the occupation of relaxation time. Furthermore our teachers may as well allow us more free time to relax ourselves. If the school discipline is strengthened and our teachers understand us better we will perhaps see more students doing some short-time sports between classes. 

All in all with the joint efforts made by our school and the students ourselves we’re sure to create a wonderful environment in our school where students are both hard-working and energetic.
