Yao Ming, now 2.26m in height and 134.34 kg in weight, was born in Shanghai, China on September 12, 1980, whose parents were both basketball players. He got the first basketball as his fourth birthday present, and he knew about NBA at the age of 6. Yao Ming began to receive basketball training when he was 9, and he was admitted to National Youth Basketball Team of China at 17. The following year saw him wearing our national team’s uniform.
At the 2000 Olympics, Yao Ming ranked first in field goal percentage (63.9%). And during the 2000 Asian Basketball Tournament, Yao helped China get the title with an average 13.4 points per game.
In June, 2002, Yao Ming was chosen by the Houston Rockets and since then he has been fighting in NBA basketball fields as a promising Chinese centre.
