Dear Tom,
I am really happy to receive your e-mail. How are you doing? It's really a surprise that you are coming to China to be an exchange student and spend the Chinese New Year here with us.
In China we have 2 long semesters each year, which is different from that of United States. The Spring semester usually starts at the end of February and ends in the middle of July. This will be the semester you spend with us. Since you will only be here for one semester, I recommend you not to bring too many staffs with you. Also, it is more convenient to live on campus because it's safer and close to the teaching building. What's more, it can save you more time that you can spend to get familiar with the surroundings.
Spring Festival is Chinese traditional festival, and it is the most important festival here in China. People wear new clothes, eat dumplings and go to visit their relatives during the fesitival. When you come to visit us, I can take you to diffrent places to experience our culture and make dumplings together.
