BENEFITS OF SMOKING Mike Wolf I’m a smoker,I smoked for thirteen years.For over 300 years people have chosen to smoke,it’s a habit which has given millions enjoyment and satisfaction.I mean smoking is a habit just like making up.Everybody told me that Smoking is harmful to health.I agree with this opinion,but I think there are a lot of benefits of smoking.This may seem very strange,but I feel that smoking is actually good for all of the smokers.Here is a list of some of the benefits of smoking:1.The source of wisdom The nicotine in the smoke causes a chemical reaction in your brain that makes you feel better.When I was thinking and writing,I always met many problems.Then I began to smoked,a literary thought springs to my mind at that time.University of California-San Diego researchers presented a study to the Society for Neuroscience earlier this year showing that smoking cigarettes sharpens short-term learning and memory among young people.2.The bridge of communication People always fell shy and constraint when they face to a stranger,but if you pass a cigarette to him(or her),It can get people much closer（even if he is not a smoker）.Cigarettes play an important role in Human interaction.Cigarettes are used for making friends in a party or a bar.3.The partner of soul When you feel lonely or need relax,smoking can help you.When a person walk outside alone,he (or she) maybe feel lonely and helpless,cigarette always accompany him(or her) .Taking a deep puff is just like using relaxation breathing.Another benefit of smoking is that is lessens feeling of depression or anxiety.It’s the nicotine in your cigarettes that is responsible for making these feelings go away.Think of the nicotine as a medication,and your cigarette as a medication delivery device.4.The symbol of health Researchers at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton,New York,reported that something in cigarette smoke lowers the levels of an enzyme known as MAO B.This coincides with an increase in dopamine,known for years to be the brain chemical responsible for part of nicotine's pleasure.Smokers,say the researchers,may have a lower risk of Parkinson's disease,because the nerve disease is aggravated by shortages of dopamine.Researchers in the study,however,cautioned that such benefits don't out-weigh the risks of more serious ailments.Tough there are many benefits of smoking,we all know many more harms of smoking than benefits of smoking,so,I want to tell everybody,don’t smoke,smoking is harmful to your health.
