It's always good to have some skills in life. When my husband was fired from his government job in 2010,we were thankful we had our writing skills to depend on. For two years we worked side by side,taking it in turns writing for various clients while the other took care of the children and house. it was a viable arrangement and we were staying afloat,but when he was offered a good salary for a nine-to-five out in the real world,he had to take it.
so,for the last two weeks since my husband has been getting used to his new job,the children and i have been working on adjusting at home. my family's whole routine has been changed.
The person who is taking the change the hardest is my youngest son. he was only oneyear old when my husband started working at home, so he really doesn't have any memory of a different lifestyle. it's strange to look at the situating through his eyes,because he's shocked that it could be normal for a father not to be at home all day.
Every day when he wakes up, he looks for his father. and every day I have too look him in the puzzled, tear-filled eyes and tell him that Daddy doesn't work at home any more. I'm hoping that soon enough the boys will start to recognize the positive changes which are taking place around the house. while daddy might not be around during the day, when he gets home we can actually spend time as a complete family. and, besides having free time, we also have extra money to do more fun, interesting and new things. that wasn't the case just two short weeks age, when one of us was always working, morning, noon and night, seven days a week.
