Advantages and disadvantages of electronic dictionary
Nowadays,it’s common to use electronic dictionary,especially for we English learners.Although electronic dictionary may make users reluctant to use brain,I think there’re more advantages such as convenience,efficient and so on.
First of all,electronic dictionary bring us much convenience,so we don’t need to look up words in the thick,heavy traditional dictionary.Just pressing a few keys,words show.The electronic dictionary improves our efficiency and accuracy.Why don’t we take this convenient,efficient and pleasant thing?
To learn English well,especially writing in English,we almost can’t live without dictionary,but in this modern society with rapid life pace,traditional dictionary has already been out of date.It can’t catch up with modern people’s demands of quickness and efficiency.I think one day traditional dictionary will be eliminated and electronic one will take replace.
Of course,electronic dictionary has its own short backs.Because it’s “too” efficient and convenient,users may be too much dependent on it so as to form a situation that users are copying words instead of remembering or learning them.Under this circumstance,users are reluctant to think and machine replaces the brain.In addition,electronic dictionaries leave a great number of useless batteries which may do harm to environment.
To sum up,there are many advantages and disadvantages; electronic dictionary’s superiority is still obvious.We should make the best use of it instead of letting it be the substitution of thinking.
