This Atlas was drawn on the all facts in < Historical Records > ,the world famous masterpiece on China history,written by Sima Qian 2100 years ago ,and with its aim for the most readers to have a better understanding of < Historical Records > ,as well as a tool for experts to make a further investigation on < Historical Records >.
全书有地图369幅,编写的意念是以有形的空间图像诠释《史记》书中无形的事件,以眼前可见的地理方位显示古代已经消失的历史时空,读者以此书作为阅读《史记》的辅助,更能贴近司马迁的叙事.
The entire Atlas contains 369 maps,use visible image from the map to explain all the invisible events in < Historical Records > ,at present visible geographic locations indicates the ancient time-space passed-away for thousands years ago.The readers can take the Atlas as a tool for reading < Historical Records >,and will have a further understanding of the stories written by Sima Qian.
全书地图分为以下几类：
The Atlas contains the following types of maps:
1.《史记》范围内每一时期的事件地图；
1.Event maps in each period of duration covered by < Historical Records >
2.战争地图（包括每次战争前各方的形势、各方交战经过、战后的局面等等）；
2.The maps for each war (including pre-war situations of each side,the entire progress of the engagement,and Post-war situations etc)
3.重要历史人物行迹地图；
3.The important maps for great historical figures,(and People Map whereabouts)
4.各诸侯国都城的迁徙、土地分封以及疆域变迁.
4.Migration of each vassal state capital,Fiefdoms land packets Territorial Change.
5.少量的自然灾害地图；
6.先秦少数民族的迁移.

本书地图以Google的电子地图为底本,每幅地图均按照《史记》原文内容配上现代和古代地名.古代地名的定位参考《史记三家注》、《读史方舆纪要》等著作略作考订.
This Atlas was made from ,Google maps etc,and each map indicated by the place names at that time,with their mordern ones according to original Text.The location of ancient place is sometimes corrected based on < The Combined Annotations of the Three Experts on Historical Records >,and etc.
各地图的排列以年代为经,地区为纬；时代上限自五帝开始,下至汉武帝时期,按历史时期分为8章.
This Atlas is arranged in the way that we take the time as a Longitude,and area as Latitude,the duration is from Five Emperors times (about 4500 years ago) to Han-Wu Emperor (2100 years ago) and comprise of 8 chapters according to the time.
每幅地图都附有标题和说明文字.说明文字根据《史记》原书改写为现代汉语,改写时注重简洁准确,忠实原文,方便读者对照《史记》阅读.读者不看原书,只读说明文字,也能尽得《史记》原意.
