Once is there common life to lead
one keeps striving for feed
Once fed satiety in deed
he wants attire in need
衣食两般皆俱足,又想娇娥美貌妻.
Once sufficient has he been ,
a bride would be a new gleam
娶得美妻生下子,又思无田少根基.
Once got family he used to yearn,
a lack of estate would be seen
门前买下田千顷,又思出门少马骑.
Once landed with great deals,
he hence aches for new steeds
厩里买回千匹马,又思无官被人欺.
Once fulfilled as he feels,
he complains about dearth of seals
做个县官还嫌小,要到朝中挂紫衣.
Once never was he gratified the least,
further lusts for the king's seat.
做得皇帝求仙术,又问哪是上天梯.
Once made the world under heel,
he hunts for theurgy beyond real
若要世人心满足,除非南柯一梦西.
Once content with his greed?
Only if he got sober out of daydream.
