Equivalence in translation,which is linguistic-based translaiton theory,emphasizes on the form of the two languages.Nida is an important figure in translation history,who puts forward two kinds of equivalence,namely,formal equivalence and functional equivalence.Actually,theory of translation equivalence is somewhat out of date in the studies of translation,for now translatin study has now taken a cultural turn.Thus,equivalence is not treated as a guiding principle in translation for it cannot solve many translation problems in translation practice.
