From my point of view, the most important characteristics are honesty and kindhearted, no matter for choosing a spounse or even a friend. First, it is necessary for couple to be honst to each other, since the relationship is based on trust and understanding. I do not believe who would like to live in lies. Second, trust and understanding could help couples to avoid lots of conflicts, I believe. For an example, if I would like to find someone. I really want her to understand me when I am too busy to accompany her. I hope she could be a good listener. When I was frustrated, like losing my job, she could understand me, not blame me. At last, I believe kindheared should not be ignored either, because a kindhearted woman usually gains respect. She would like to help others. No one could reject a helpful and obliging lady.
Therefore, in my opinion, honesty and kind heared are important characteristics for choosing a spouse.
