It is difficult to judge the function of university isimparting knowledge and skills connected with graduates’ future vocation orjust provide them with knowledge for its own purpose.
In terms of theformer opinion expressed,an important consideration is employable skills.Graduates who hardly experience adversity and do not have competence ofindependent thinking enough before entering the society,for example,are lesslikely to be hired than sophisticated workers though their theoreticalknowledge is inferior to graduates.In addition,there has been an increasingawareness of the importance of theoretical knowledge.With the fiercecompetition among the companies,employers prefer to employ graduates receivedadvanced schooling that is suited for their companies thereby outweighing othercompanies.
Similarly,thereare also reasons for university teaching students knowledge for its own sake.During many years of shaping the educative system,it is no doubt thatuniversity will tell what the major focuses on,then they can choose theirfavorite majors and clearly realize what they can do in the future beforeentering.Surely,it is useful to the employers.However,because of themajority of majors,it confuses students that hard to make a right decision,which leads to opinion‘giving access to knowledge for its own sake’.
Overall,I think themain function of university is combined with the society and knowledge asbridge.A telling example can be reflected by the case that some universitieshave been able to satisfy with the command of employer,setting an opportunityof internship on the third year called sandwich courses.

”.没看懂哈.of independent thinking是一起的么?那enough修饰啥子哈?你想表达是独立思考的能力么?我觉得可能用are not capable of 好点.
